Vicmap Position - GPSnet

Introduction
Victoria's Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) network.

There are two components to Vicmap Position:
Vicmap Position – GPSnet™ - the infrastructure
Vicmap Position – VICpos - the GNSS real-time and post processing position correction services.

GPSnet™ satellite correction data provides:

  • improved accuracy and reliability compared to autonomous (uncorrected) positioning
  • immediate Geocentric Datum of Australia 1994 (GDA94) compliance
  • a homogeneous solution state-wide
  • easy real time access via the Internet
  • low cost, particularly for casual users
  • low weight- on the pole solution
  • integrity monitoring
  • optimises a dense infrastructure of GPSnet™.

GPSnet is a satellite positioning service used to continuously record, store, validate and disseminate GNSS correction information through a network of public access, high accuracy, CORS located throughout Victoria.

GPSnet sites are established co-operatively with a range of hosts including agencies and departments of local, state and national government, utility companies, academic organisations, survey and mapping companies, and also include financial contributions from supporting participants.
