Access Infrastructure Guidelines for Victoria

Access infrastructure should provide a simple, effective means of locating and obtaining geospatial information. While this includes non-digital information and non-internet forms of access and distribution, the primary method of locating and obtaining spatial information is intended to be via the Internet.

Simple, effective access maximises use, and reduces the potential for duplication, discrepancies and errors. The starting point for access is metadata a simple and effective means of locating information. While VGIS focuses heavily on metadata as the prerequisite for access, the main issue is delivery providing information to users.
