Victorian Spatial Information Strategy 2004-2007

The Victorian Spatial Information Strategy (VSIS) is a whole-of-state strategy concerned with all aspects of Victoria’s spatial information industry. It considers roles and requirements of the public and private sectors and academia in advancing Victoria’s social, economic and environmental goals through the provision and application of spatial information.

The purpose of VSIS is, therefore, to establish the preconditions that enable effective use of spatial information. It provides a strategic framework for the continuing development of Victoria’s spatial information industry to 2007. The achievement of the strategy’s objective to advance Victoria’s social, economic and environmental goals through the availability and application of spatial information will only be possible through the cooperative response of government, the private sector and academia in adopting its strategic direction and developing strategies and work plans that contribute to its achievement.
