VICNAMES Historical Information: Working Offline

The historical information component of the VICNAMES online Register of Geographic Names has been developed by the Victorian Office of the Registrar of Geographic Names. The aim of the database is to provide the public with a facility to access or contribute information regarding the origins of place names in Victoria.

The historical component of VICNAMES is accessible through the internet. People who wish to undertake placenames research away from their computer and the internet can print out Data entry forms to work with. Detailed information for using these sheets is available in the Instructions. There are 9 data entry forms, each one specifically designed for the different sources of information.

Using these sheets means you won’t forget vital research details that you’ll need when inputting the information through the internet database.
