Land Use Victoria is leading the development of a 10-year strategy to advance Victoria’s cadastral system to ensure that Victoria’s land administration system supports the needs of future generations.

This critical work will align several Land Use Victoria transformation initiatives, such as the Digital Cadastre Modernisation project and the Digital Twin Victoria program, and will present a bold and united vision for how we will harness digital technology to make our cadastral system ready for the future.

With support from external facilitators, the first stage of this work involved structured discovery with internal business units and over 70 external stakeholders across state government, local government, development, major infrastructure projects, utilities and academic sectors.

We now have a comprehensive understanding of where we are, our goals, pain points with legacy systems, implementation challenges, and an agreed set of milestones. This information has led to the development of a draft strategy.

When complete, the strategy will guide the delivery of significant investments in digital transformation initiatives that will enhance the way land, assets and communities across Victoria are planned, developed and managed.

These initiatives are designed to modernise our digital infrastructure, automate key business processes, deliver new products and services and support the transition to full digital processing of all land transactions and property dealing types.

The strategy will be published in early 2023. For any questions related to the strategy, get in touch with Chief Geospatial Scientist Dr Roger Fraser.
