Support for bushfire-affected communities: tax and fee relief
The Victorian Government and its operational partners are providing a range of tax and fee relief measures for people affected by the Victorian bushfires. Affected property owners and/or their representatives will not be required to pay:
- Title and other search fees payable to Victorian Land Registry Services, to help, for example, support insurance claims for properties damaged by bushfire
- Land transfer duty (stamp duty) on the purchase of a home to replace a home destroyed by bushfire
- Land Use Victoria lodgment fees on land transactions relating to properties damaged or destroyed by bushfire
- PEXA fees payable in respect of the lodgment of land transactions.
The State Revenue Office, Land Use Victoria and operational partners are working together to provide advice/details on how the exemptions will operate. Further information will be released as soon as possible.
