The ePlan Portal has reached a significant milestone with the successful completion of the ePlan pilot.
Held from October 2021 to December 2022, the pilot saw 32 surveying organisations create 324 ePlans using the newly built ePlan Portal. The objectives of the pilot were to test the full suite of services that support ePlan creation and to identify areas where the services and submission process might be improved.
Organisations were encouraged to start with simple plans to learn the system. As confidence grew, the plans being submitted became increasingly more complex, with many large estate plans being created in greenfield development areas.
Based on the feedback of pilot participants, the ePlan team implemented 11 releases that improved the system’s functionality. Collaboration with participating surveying organisations to develop user requirements was key to this work. Training and support were also provided to participants to help them adopt ePlan.
Since the pilot, Surveyor-General Victoria released a questionnaire to understand the sector’s readiness to adopt ePlan and for surveying companies to provide feedback. Planning is now underway for new engagement opportunities to encourage wider ePlan adoption.
Surveying firms interested in starting ePlan today can contact the SPEAR Service Desk and ask about training and support opportunities.
